7 tấn sầu riêng nguyên quả đông lạnh của Việt Nam đã bán hết sạch chỉ trong vài ngày có mặt tại siêu thị Australia. Các công ty xuất nhập khẩu đang chuẩn bị nhập khẩu thêm vì nhận thấy nhu cầu rất lớn.
Theo Thương vụ Việt Nam tại Australia ( thuộc Bộ Công Thương) nhận định thị trường sầu riêng tại Australia trị giá hàng triệu USD. Tiềm năng xuất khẩu sầu riêng đông lạnh là rất lớn. Người gốc Á tại Australia thưởng thức sầu riêng đông lạnh quanh năm. Người gốc Tây phương cũng bắt đầu trải nghiệm do các chiến lược quảng bá sầu riêng của nhiều quốc gia gây hiếu kỳ
Ngay từ đầu năm 2020, Thương vụ Việt Nam tại Australia phối hợp với Công ty ASEAN tổ chức tuần lễ sầu riêng Việt Nam tại Australia tại 3 khu vực đông người gốc Á là : Marrickville, Eastwood và Cabramatta.
Qua khảo sát cho thấy sầu riêng có đặc trưng là phù hợp tiêu dùng đông lạnh, vận chuyển lại rất thuận lợi. Điều quan trọng, trong khi sầu riêng tươi Việt Nam chưa được Australia cho nhập khẩu thì sầu riêng đông lạnh hoàn toàn có thể thay thế được.
Sau thời gian dài trồng theo tiêu chuẩn xuất khẩu, nhiều trái cây của Việt Nam vào được các thị trường khó tính châu Á và châu Âu như Nhật Bản, Hàn Quốc, Asean, châu Âu, Mỹ, Australia… Cụ thể, trái vải của Việt Nam đã vào được thị trường Nhật Bản, Singapore; chuối vào siêu thị Hàn Quốc, xoài, ổi vào Mỹ; vải, xoài, Thanh Long, nhãn vào Australia…
Ông Hoàng Trung, Cục trưởng Cục Bảo vệ thực vật (BVTV, Bộ NN-PTNT), cho biết sau trái vải vào được Nhật Bản, Cục BVTV đang xúc tiến mở cửa thị trường Mỹ, Hàn Quốc, New Zealand, Ấn Độ, Đài Loan đối với trái bưởi. Trái chanh leo được xúc tiến vào Australia, New Zealand hoặc thị trường Ấn Độ, Chile, Đài Loan… đón nhận trái chôm chôm.
