Nhóm 39 trường đại học hàng đầu tại Úc đã đề nghị chính phủ nước này một lộ trình cho phép sinh viên quốc tế trở lại nhập học. Các trường đại học cho rằng Úc cần đi tiên phong trong việc mở cửa biên giới đối với sinh viên nước ngoài để đón đầu lợi thế cạnh tranh trong lĩnh vực giáo dục toàn cầu.
Theo bản kế hoạch được gửi đến chính phủ liên bang ngày 28/5 vừa qua, các trường đại học đề xuất trước mắt sẽ thí điểm cho phép một số lượng nhỏ sinh viên quốc tế nhập cảnh và sau đó sẽ mở rộng thêm số lượng sinh viên cũng như các điểm đến. Sinh viên quốc tế sẽ phải xét nghiệm Covid-19 trước khi khởi hành và cách ly nghiêm ngặt trong thời gian 14 ngày sau khi đến Úc.
